Right Here, Right Now
Reading: KnitLit (too). The most hilarious story so far is clearly The Yarn Harlot's. I haven't been able to pick The One That Made Me Cry yet - perhaps there are too many?
Listening to: iTunes Library
Jonesing for: real clam chowder and sourdough bread. I can do the sourdough (hell, I live in the San Francisco Bay Area), but my hips don't need the cream in the clam chowder. *SIGH*
High of the week: I have my car back because Dave's is really fixed now!!
Buzzkill of the week: My students are starting to show their true colors. This is a mixed blessing. It does mean that they're getting comfortable and trust me - and that's good. But the downside is that they ... are showing their true colors, so I get the full blast of their hormonal insanity.
Finished reading: At Knit's End: Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee
And it was: SO FUNNY!!! Every time I go to the bookstore I've picked this up and flipped through it, but finances have kept me from really indulging in it and taking it home. I finally couldn't stand it any longer and bought it - and zipped through the reading in one day. I couldn't put it down! Now it sits by my bed so I can flip it open at random before I go to sleep and be comforted by the closeness of a knitting sister nearby. I've also read all the archives of her blog this week. She's funny, real and someone I'd love to know. Go buy her book. Buy several copies. Tell her I sent you :-)
Saw: Donnie Darko
And my 15 second review says: I didn't get it, but my brother in law says that's because we watched the director's cut, which didn't make any sense. I'll give the original another chance, mostly because I LOVED the soundtrack. How creepy can you make "Mad World" sound? Apparently, very creepy.
Events:
The Stitch Mafia have a booth at Newark Days from Sept 23 - Sept 25. Come wish AC a happy birthday and buy some of the ridiculous amounts of stuff that grieving people have knit in the past 5 months. Email me for details at goddessATdelatoreDOTcom
Trips:
The goddess is heading to Springfield, MO in October for less than 72 hours for a wedding. Are there any yarn shops that are open late on Friday or VERY EARLY (like 4 am) on Sunday??
